Look at examples online or in the classroom. Start scrolling through websites like Pinterest, Instagram, and even Google. I like to use search terms that include handmade, ceramic, clay, etc. Pick up some old art boos or magazines. Look around you, take inspiration from nature.
Talk to friends and family to get ideas. Think about what makes you happy, what makes you different from others, think about your experiences, your culture, your life. What inspires you?
Look at your design journal or sketchbook and gather your thoughts. You will keep a design journal that helps you establish your color preferences, your aesthetic preferences, and will include lots of images that you like.
PLAN:
Make at least 2 drawings of different designs that you are interested in making
Discuss with your teacher and decide HOW you will make it and think about any specials concerns you need to take into account with your design. Is it really delicate? Is it too think? Should it be hollow? How will it stand up?
Choose your design and go for it!
I like to make a mind map to get my ideas down and start to make connections. I can already see what I like, and have some ideas of what I might like to make this year.
